Mavs Vs Pelicans

Dallas Mavericks Edge Out New Orleans Pelicans in Thrilling 125-120 Victory

Pelicans' Comeback Falls Short in High-Scoring Affair

January 15, 2024

In a nail-biting encounter, the Dallas Mavericks emerged victorious over the New Orleans Pelicans with a final score of 125-120 on Monday afternoon. Both teams entered the game with identical records of 24-17, setting the stage for an intense and closely contested battle.

The Mavericks started strong, leading by as many as 12 points in the first half. However, the Pelicans fought back with a strong defensive effort and some timely three-pointers, cutting the deficit to just 5 points at the break.

The second half was a back-and-forth affair, with neither team able to establish a significant advantage. The Pelicans managed to tie the game with just over 2 minutes remaining, but the Mavericks answered with a clutch three-pointer from Luka Dončić to regain the lead.

The Pelicans had one final chance to tie the game, but Brandon Ingram's three-point attempt bounced off the rim, sealing the victory for Dallas. Dončić led all scorers with 35 points, while Kristaps Porziņģis added 22 points and 10 rebounds for the Mavericks.

For the Pelicans, Zion Williamson scored 29 points and Ingram chipped in with 25 points. However, the team's inability to consistently defend the three-point line proved costly, as the Mavericks made 18 threes on the night.

With this victory, the Mavericks improve their record to 25-17, while the Pelicans drop to 24-18. The two teams will face off again on March 8 in New Orleans.
