Manchester United vs Barnsley Live: Team News with Eight Changes as Ugarte and Collyer Start

Team News

Manchester United will make eight changes to their starting lineup for their Carabao Cup fourth-round clash with Barnsley on Wednesday night [October 19th]. Manager Erik ten Hag has made wholesale alterations to the side that beat Tottenham 2-0 in the Premier League on Saturday, with only David de Gea, Diogo Dalot, and Christian Eriksen retaining their places.

Facundo Pellistri, Zidane Iqbal, and Charlie Savage are among the players handed a rare start, while there is also a debut for new signing Facundo Pellistri.

Barnsley, meanwhile, make four changes to the team that lost 3-1 to Fleetwood in League One on Saturday. Conor McCarthy, Liam Kitching, Luke Thomas, and Josh Martin all come into the side.

Cauley Woodrow, who scored against Fleetwood, is likely to lead the line for the Tykes.

* David de Gea * Diogo Dalot * Raphael Varane * Lisandro Martinez * Luke Shaw * Casemiro * Christian Eriksen * Anthony Elanga * Facundo Pellistri * Charlie Savage * Zidane Iqbal

WHAT THE MANAGERS SAID

Erik ten Hag (Manchester United): "We have a lot of games in a short period of time, so it is important to rotate the squad and give some players a rest. I am confident that the players who come into the team will be able to do a good job." Michael Duff (Barnsley): "We are looking forward to the challenge of playing Manchester United. We know it will be a tough game, but we are confident that we can give them a good game."

PREDICTION

Manchester United are the clear favorites for this match, but Barnsley have shown in the past that they can be a dangerous opponent. I predict a 2-0 win for United.
